Creative Minds Unite!

Ok, not a lot of people read my blog, but I am familiar with the written work of the few who do, and I know that you all have exceptionally imaginative and poetic minds...I need your creative help.

This is a pencil drawing that I'm working on. The image of the girl is my rendition of a beautiful photograph I found on a greeting card. However, the background on the greeting card isn't something I want to recreate.

The problem: My creative juices seem to have run dry. I can't for the life of me decide what this little girl in her nightgown is witnessing/heading towards/gawking at. I considered laundry hung to dry and raspberry bushes, but both seemed so...dull.

So, my request of my loyal and ever helpful readers, is: "What is this little girl standing in front of?" Be creative! Have fun with it! Help me PLEASE!

I can only come up with things like the ones you mentioned that you thought were boring. Great drawing, I'm horrid in that department. All I can draw are butterflies and mushrooms...and a really scary tree.

Santa & a BIG tree.

A man in uniform with a duffel bag - leaving.

2 dogs fornicating.

A dog or cat unabashedly emerging from a tromped-down sea of wildflowers, ball or small rodent in its mouth.

shpprgrl-I want to see your tree!

2x4-Okay, the dogs fornicating isn't gonna happen. Your dad would LOVE the guy in the uniform leaving, I'll think about that one, but I REALLY like the animal emerging with something in its mouth (I'm leaning towards the ball) Thank you!

Hmmmm....perhaps she is sauntering out to take the laundry off of the clothesline? There could be an old barn to the right. The clothesline to the left with the clothes blowing in the breeze? Some trees about. A fence. A dusty lane leading off into the plain through a gate? That's is what comes to my mind....*smile*....though I am not able to draw it. Very good drawing!

I like 2X4s dog idea

Other than that I got a whole lot of nothing.

Some of my random ideas were:

Garden of Eden, shopping mall, wall mart (my favorite, slaughterhouse, old mcdonalds farm, a giant big screen TV, a life size Cover Girl cosmetics ad with her in the middle, a grape field, jamacia,

yeah that is all I got for now :)

To me, this girl is flush from a meeting with her first love...she's young, she's sweet--she was supposed to be out collecting the wash from the line before the afternoon rains fall--yet, in her hand she tightly clasps the crushed petals of a plum blossom...her heart thrilling inside her and her eyes filled with anything but laundry...

She's standing in front of a stranger, a man she has never seen before, who is trying to convince her to give him whatever is in her basket. She doesn't trust the man, rightfully so, and just after this image was drawn she dropped the basket and ran back through the fields to her house. Her daddy came out with a 12 guage looking to air-condition the guy but by then he was gone.

Well, first I have to say that the drawing is quite beautiful and I think your suggestions for a background sound interesting to me.

Still, here are a few more:

an SUV, on fire
Wolves
50 Cent
The A-Team

OH, you probably want serious ideas! Hmmm, well that's a lot harder.

Something simple and evocative of childhood... maybe she's looking back one final time? Like a merry-go-round or swing set? Or how about a may pole with lots of beautiful streamers attached?

This girl is in the midst of a torn society. She has paused to see before her the life that she was born into, yet the vision she holds is one of promise. She sees ahead of her what she must collect or gather. Directly ahead of her are scattered remains of fields with only enough harvest for her and her family. Her parted and braided hair suggests that she has an obligation to the task, but also has the will to break away. Her right arm which flows back to the basket suggests that she will never forget where she came from, but will remember the moment that she decided and felt the call for change.

What you create beyond what you have is her story.

I really liked your comment, it made me add a something to my post...I always seems to do that. You're right, you are very lucky.

Hey, I decided that Colin Firth should be added to the picture....k? I thought he would fit in much better than Jon Bon Jovi. ;) (No I'm not serious.)

This looks like a girl that is dreaming. Dreaming of being involved. Maybe there should be a group of other girls playing and having fun. Not like she is being intentionally left out, but so you can tell that that's where she'd rather be.

Holy CRAP!

First of all, I didn't know this many people stop by my blog, I'm REALLY excited!(which I realize is totally lame, but I'm ok with that) Second of all, I don't know whether to finish my drawing or write a story...you've all given me so much to think about...I KNEW creative people read my blog. Kudos!

Thank you all sooooooo much for your comments and ideas.

I don't know if you read my blog, but just posted a day or so ago about how I find some words so funny just to find that you posted one of the words here when you responded with "Holy Crap"! As I said in the post, I can't explain it! *grin* And, yes, I laughed when I read it!
